Understanding Algebra An Algebra expression connects variable and constants for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Distinguishing Expressions 5 x2 + 2 x – 3 5 x2 Exponent: A digit showing the power of variable. Constant: A part of Algebraic Expression, the value of which cannot be changed. Variable: A symbol in Algebra which assume different numerical values (numbers) In 2X – 4 = 8:  x is variable. Literal: Letters, such as a, b, c, x, y, z; which are used to represent constants or coefficients are literal. In      a x3 + b x2 –c x           a, b, c are literals           x is variable Way to write Algebaric expressions Algebra Expressions can be written in ascending or descending order, but mostly we write the expression in descending order. رموز الجبرا: الجبرا کے سوالات جملوں کی صورت میں ہوتے ہیں، اعداد اور حروف مختلف طریقوں سے لکھے جاتے ہیں۔اعداد اور حروف کی نوعیت کا جاننا ضروری ہے۔ الجبری جملوں میں لکھے گئے الفاظ اور اعداد کی شناخت۔ 5 x2 + 2 x – 3 5 x 2   قوت نما: اساس کی طاقت۔ مندرجہ مثال میں قوت نما 2 ہے۔ مستقلات :الجبری جملوں کے وہ اندراجات جو تبدیل نہیں کئے جا سکتے۔     میں   2   اور   8    مستقلات ہیں۔ 2x – 8 = 4 متغیرات:  الجبری جملوں کے وہ اندراجات جنکی قیمت معلوم نہیں۔     متغیرات میں سے ہے۔ x  ,2x – 8 = 4 حرفی مقداریں:  ایسے حروف جو کسی مقدار کے متبادل کے طور لکھے جاتے ہیں اور جنکی مقدار بعد میں دی جاتی ہے۔  متغیرات میں سے ہے۔xحرفی مقداریں ہیں اور    c  اورb,a میں   اس ax3 + bx2 - cx  مثلاً    الجبری جملہ جات کا لکھنے کا طریقہ۔ الجبرا کے سوالات کے حل کے لئے الجبری جملوں کو ترتیب صعودی یا  ترتیب نزولی میں لکھا جاتا ہے۔  ترتیب نزولی: بائیں ہاتھ کی طرف سے متغیر کی بڑی قوت نما پہلے، اس کے بعد اسی متغیر کی چھوٹی  قوت نما اور اسی طرح۔ x4 + 7 x3 – x2 + 3 x + 5 ترتیب صعودی: بائیں ہاتھ کی طرف سے متغیر کی چھوٹی قوت نما پہلے، اس کے بعد اسی متغیر کی بڑی  قوت نما اور اسی طرح۔  3x - x 2 + 7 x3 + 2 x4    جب الجبری جملوں کو اوپر نیچے لکھا جاتا ہے تو  اساس اور قوت نما کا خیال رکھا جاتا ہے۔ ایک ہی اساس اور ایک ہی قوت نما کے عدد اوپر نیچے آ تے ہیں ۔ بائیں طرف کے عدد  کی علامت ( - ) ہو تولکھی جاتی ہے۔
